John Travolta would've made a great Fonz! He would be a lot cooler! And more harsh core, just like his 1977 role in Saturday Night Fever as part of an Italian family hitting the Disco floor and the Greaser in Grease in 1978!! They should've chosen him!! 4:20

Andy and Don had such chemistry! My mom discovered them in the movie "No Time for Sergeants", said she laughed so hard!! When The Andy Griffith Show came out, she was all over that! We grew up watching it, of course. That, and the Incredible Mr Limpet -- Don Knotts was always a family favorite. There are so many great Barney Fife scenes, but one of my favorites is when Andy & Helen are stuck in a cave and manage to get out. They see the rescue effort that Barney has put together, so they go back INTO the cave, so Barney can rescue them. It was so sweet, I thought -- Andy really did his best to help boost Barney's ego and confidence.

Thanks for a wonderful little documentary! You have a great voice and excellent cadence for this. Such a dying art, people finding their own voice and cadence. I've tried to make a couple videos speaking and realized I speak too slow with inflated pauses. I notice some vids you can double the speed and the voice stays the same pitch. I need this. Actually I just need more practice. I'm subbing. 🙂

0:10 That's the great Hammond & Wurlitzer ES reed organist Ken Griffin on that TV screen. He made many records, but was also the featured artist/ host of the peculiarly done TV show _67 Melody Lane_ ( many eps on ytb). Not sure what came first, the record album 67 Melody Lane, or the show. However it is an excellent record and features Ken Griffin on the Wurlitzer electrostatic continuous free reed organ ( a great animated tech article- North Suburban Hammond Organ Service , then tech article, then Wurli 4600) . Ken had a hypnotically enjoyable, and seemingly elementary style, but was anything but that. He just made it sound easy. He made many Hammond organ records, but Ken was not only an experimenter in the studio much like Les Paul, he and Les were good friends. For all of you musicians out there, Ken really was an innovator. Read all about his studio prowess in an article titled, " Ken Griffin Special Effects " ( by Eric Larson or Larsen). The article also shows the first Spring Reverb invented by Laurens Hammond, and was standard in several Hammond Tone Cabinet models ( a tone cabinet is a self contained amplified speaker cabinet. Basically the foundation Don Leslie used to make a Leslie Speaker ( See Leslie Model 30A for a real treat, as the horns were made from a a block of wood and two paper mache horns painted with thick grey metallic paint). Record albums Ken Griffin played the 1953-1963 Wurlitzer 4600 series electrostatic continuous free reed organ on: Ken Griffin -67 Melody Lane Ken Griffin -Cruising Down The River Ken Griffin -Skating Time ( a staple of skating rinks!) Ken Griffin -Anniversary Songs ( I have contention to believe Ken used Hammond on this album as well. In fact in the studio Ken would even use Conn organs. However since he might have had an endorsement with Wurlitzer and or Hammond he might not have made it known on the album sleeve. I know when a Wurlitzer is present in mix. Wurlitzers had more sizzle. Also, Wurlitzer continuous free reeds had the distinction of having an instant snappy attack. This is due to the clever total redesigning of the original "Keyed reed electrostatic reed designs from 1946-1952. Those first models had a slow onset of the note because it takes time for the reed to build up it's vibration after suction is applied. They overcame this by putting all of the reeds in a soundproof fiber box via clever cast metal sub-enclosures, and applying air suction to all reeds continuously. As you'll see in the article I noted above, these were extremely well crafted organs. Wurlitzer invented 'Sustain' on electronic organs beginning with the 1953 model 4600 full console organs and the 1953 model 4410 'spinet' version ( 13 pedals instead of 25, and 2 x 43 keys instead of 2 x 61 keys). Jan Giradot Master Organ List and the 1986 Organ Blue Book are excellent references.

It all comes down to the innate snobbery of the Burtons ,who thought they needed no instruction from an American t.v show maker ,who they thought would be overwhelmed by their agreeing to appear on her show. Perhaps he forgot that when Lucy and Desi were at the peak of their popularity and were making "The long long trailor" ,a humble ,short kid can be seen looking up to them ,while they didn't even bother to come down from their vehicle to greet Elizabeth Taylor who had not got her ring then and Cleopatra was just a movie in the vague future. I personally think Lucy overshadowed the couple and they got their most popular appearance on this show. For all the greediness they had shown by asking for an exorbitant amount ,asking for two separate bungalows and drives.....insisting on some of his friends being accomadated on the show ( the hotel manager) ,Lucy was brilliant and they were just a couple of jaded over rated stars ,who could never measure up to her brilliance and that's what infuriated the pompous Burton......that here was a woman who was not falling over herself in the presence of arrogant stars like the Burtons and Crawford. As for Benny ,their friendship was something that brought laghter and joy to millions of fans from their shows togther Jack Benny insisted on being part of a Dean Martin show to honour Lucy when he was very sick ( he died a few months later) Lucy is still loved and adored by her fans while the Burtons have been deposited on the dust heap of History ,

I’ve been a big fan of both for years, and I still am. But who truly deserves the title "King of Cool"? Let’s break it down. First, Dean Martin. When Sammy Davis Jr. wasn’t invited to the White House to celebrate JFK’s victory-despite all he'd done to help JFK get elected-Dean, who was invited, flatly said, “No Sammy, no Deano.” Now that’s loyalty, kids. Dean also showed real class by halting the Matt Helm movies out of respect for Sharon Tate after her tragic death. And let’s be honest, how many people could handle Jerry Lewis’s bullshit for ten straight years? Now, let’s talk about Steve McQueen. Many great movies, no doubt, but he had a reputation for being insecure and often acted like a prima donna on set, add to that some domestic issues-not exactly cool. However, he was undeniably passionate about racing. Movies like On Any Sunday and Le Mans showcase this passion. Sure, many might not have seen them, but I did, and they were undeniably cool. So, who’s the true "King of Cool"? It’s a close call, but Dean’s loyalty, class, and patience make a strong case.

And with the I love Lucy episodes I always thought that Vivian is the most funniest among four of them. Too bad she didn't get that proper recognition and credit. To me, truthfully, I find her the one who carried the show and truly talented and a fine opera singer. She is a multi-talented brilliant actress and just set aside. She is the reason I watch I love Lucy and The Lucy show.
